When you're ready to experience some of the best fishing along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Captain Ron's got you covered. With over three decades on these waters, he knows every drop-off, structure, and feeding ground that holds fish. You'll fish aboard the Lucky Enough, a spacious boat built for comfort and action. The large cockpit gives you plenty of room to fight trophy fish, while the shaded areas keep you cool during those hot Gulf Coast days. Plus, having a clean restroom on board means you can focus on what matters most – catching fish. Whether you want to stay close to shore or make an offshore run, Captain Ron adapts each trip to what's biting and what you're hoping to catch.
Your 6-hour adventure starts early when the fish are most active and the Gulf is typically at its calmest. Captain Ron and his experienced deckhand will have all the gear ready – from rods and reels to bait and tackle. The Lucky Enough is equipped with everything needed for both inshore and nearshore fishing, so you're prepared no matter where the fish are holding. The boat's layout makes it easy for up to 4 anglers to fish comfortably without getting tangled up. You'll spend your time moving between productive spots, and Captain Ron's local knowledge means less time searching and more time with lines in the water. The deckhand is there to help with everything from baiting hooks to landing fish, making this trip perfect for both seasoned anglers and families with kids just learning to fish.
Captain Ron runs a variety of techniques depending on what species you're targeting and where they're feeding. For redfish, you might find yourself sight fishing in shallow grass flats or working structure with live bait. Sea trout often respond well to soft plastics worked near drop-offs and channels. When targeting sheepshead around pilings and structure, you'll use smaller hooks with shrimp or fiddler crabs. The boat carries both spinning and conventional tackle, with rod selections matched to the day's fishing plan. Live bait is often the key to success here, and the crew knows how to present it naturally. Cut bait works great for sharks, especially when you're looking to hook into some blacktip action. The deckhand will teach you the right techniques and help you feel the subtle bites that separate successful anglers from those who go home empty-handed.
"Absolutely awsome captain and deck hand these guys went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time on the water they made the trip a 10/10 best captain and deck hand on the gulf coast" - Edward. "We caught or limit of 6 Redfish plus almost 3 more limits plus a dozen Jack's. Captain said it was the best fishing he's had in a couple years. Threw back more than we kept! At multiple points of the trip we had fish on all lines in the water at the same time, 6 at one point and 5 another time. Highly recommended. Trip of a lifetime! Thanks to both the captain and deckhand for helping us and the kids catch so many." - Justin. "We had such a g treat time. Thank you for carrying us out and thank you for all the fish we caught. I will recommend capt Ron's charter." - Rachel.
Redfish are the crown jewel of Gulf Coast fishing, and these copper-colored fighters are abundant in Mississippi waters. They typically run 18 to 30 inches around here, with some real bulls pushing 40 inches or more. Reds feed aggressively in spring and fall, but you can catch them year-round if you know where to look. They love shallow grass flats, oyster reefs, and structure where they ambush baitfish. What makes them special is their powerful runs and stubborn fighting style – they'll use every ounce of strength to get back to structure. The thrill of watching a red's back break the surface as it crashes your bait never gets old, and they make excellent table fare when you keep a few within the slot limit.
Sea trout are another customer favorite that provides consistent action throughout most of the year. These spotted beauties typically range from 14 to 20 inches, with some reaching 24 inches or better. They're most active during spring and early summer when they move into shallow bays to spawn. Trout have relatively soft mouths, so the fight is more about finesse than raw power, but they're scrappy and will jump when hooked. They school up around grass beds, drop-offs, and channels where they feed on shrimp and small baitfish. What anglers love most is their willingness to bite artificial lures, making them perfect for those who enjoy the challenge of fooling fish with soft plastics or topwater plugs.
Sheepshead might look odd with their human-like teeth, but they're one of the smartest fish in the Gulf and provide a real challenge for anglers. These black-and-white striped convicts typically weigh 2 to 8 pounds, though some reach double digits. They're most active in cooler months when they move to deeper structure, but you can find them year-round around pilings, jetties, and reefs. Sheepshead are notorious bait stealers with lightning-fast reflexes, earning them the nickname "convict fish." Their diet consists mainly of barnacles, oysters, and crabs, which is why they have those crushing teeth. Landing a nice sheepshead requires patience, good reflexes, and the right presentation – but the reward is some of the best-eating fish in the Gulf.
Blacktip sharks bring the excitement level up a notch with their aerial displays and powerful runs. These sleek predators typically range from 3 to 6 feet in Mississippi waters, with some reaching 7 feet or better. They're most

Blacktip sharks are our most acrobatic fighters - they'll jump clean out of the water when hooked, sometimes landing right in the boat! These streamlined sharks average 4-5 feet but can hit 8 feet and really test your tackle. You'll find them in 30-100 feet of water around structure and bait schools, especially during summer months when the water warms up. They're exciting to catch because of those aerial shows and strong runs, plus they're generally safe to handle with proper techniques. Most folks release them, but smaller ones make decent eating. We target them with cut bait - mackerel, herring, or sardines work great. Get a good chum slick going with oily fish scraps, use circle hooks on 30-50 pound tackle, and be ready for a show when one takes your bait.

Redfish are the crown jewel of our inshore fishing - bronze-backed bruisers with that signature black spot near the tail. Most of our fish run 20-30 inches, perfect slot size with a sweet, mild flavor that's hard to beat. You'll find them cruising shallow flats, around oyster bars, and marsh edges in 1-4 feet of water. They're year-round fish here, but fall is prime time when they school up thick. What makes them special is that explosive strike - they'll crush topwater baits and make long, powerful runs that test your drag. Spring through fall, work the grass flats at first light with gold spoons or walk-the-dog plugs. My go-to trick: look for nervous water and birds working - where there's bait, there's usually reds underneath ready to feed.

Speckled trout are our bread and butter inshore species - spotted silver beauties that love grass flats and shallow bay areas. Most of what we catch runs 14-18 inches, perfect eating size with that white, tender meat that flakes apart nicely. They're active year-round here, but spring and fall are money time when they school up in 2-6 feet of water. These fish fight harder than their size suggests and make great table fare if you don't overcook them. They hit topwater plugs at dawn and dusk, plus soft plastics worked slow over grass beds. During winter, look for them in deeper channels where they school up tight. Here's a local trick: use a popping cork with live shrimp about 18 inches below - the noise draws them in from a distance.

These convict-striped fish with their human-like teeth are some of the tastiest catches in our waters. You'll find them hanging around docks, bridges, and oil rigs where they munch on barnacles and crabs. Most run 1-3 pounds, but we see 8-pounders fairly often around here. They're notorious bait thieves - they'll nibble your shrimp clean off the hook if you're not paying attention. Spring through early summer is prime time when they're feeding heavy before spawning. The white, flaky meat is worth the fight, though those sharp spines and tough scales make cleaning them a chore. My tip: use fiddler crabs when you can get them, and set that hook hard the second you feel weight - they've got crushing jaws but soft mouths.
